Hole's Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology Hardcover

Designed for one semester anatomy and physiology course requires Hole's Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology no prior science knowledge and supports core topics with clinical applications, making difficult concepts relevant to students pursuing a career in allied health. The unique educational system is highly effective in giving students a solid understanding of important concepts in anatomy and physiology.

David Shier teaches at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and biology department head. He received his doctorate in physiology from the University of Michigan.

Jackie Butler is chair of the Department of Science at Grayson County College. She did her studies in neuroscience at the University of North Texas.

Ricki Lewis is the author of Human Genetics, founding author of life, and co-author of two human anatomy and physiology textbooks, all published by McGraw-Hill Higher Education. She is also the author of the essay collection Discovery: Windows on Life Sciences and the novel Stem Cell Symphony and many magazine and newspaper articles. Dr. Lewis teaches "Genethics" in the Alden March Bioethics Institute of Albany Medical Center, and there is a genetic counselor with karen Medical Group in Schenectady, New York.

Human Anatomy (7th Edition) Hardcover Frederic H. Martini

I am an EMT working on health conditions, and I read this book, as well as anatomy and physiology for emergency care and Mariebad book on anatomy. This is the best if you take the subject seriously. The large size allows for better graphics, which is important in this area. The text is uniformly excellent. I would also developmental anatomy (fetal development) is separate so you can only go to if you're interested. Lots of cadaver images that are very important in showing that the real promise not coveniently neon and coordinated colors.

BTW, the other two books mentioned are also good. Mariebad offers less material, and A & P for emergency care is for paramedics. If this area is new to you, and you need good grades, find a local paramedic A & P class (40 hours), which is the best way to get ahead.

Human Anatomy (6th Edition) Hardcover Elaine N. Marieb

The authors of this book have chosen to present human anatomy in the traditional "systems" means (nervous, respiratory, etc.) instead of interacting parts (upper chest, legs, etc.). Complex systems (such as the nervous system) is divided into chapters and specific organs (heart, blood vessels) also have their own chapter. Overall, the book well organized and carried out studies easily.

The book begins with an introduction to the body's orientation, these conditions are doctors and nurses use to describe the location of disease and pain in relation to certain parts of the body. The second chapter is a brisk tour through the structure of the cells. The third chapter is a fascinating introduction to embryology, and the fourth chapter focuses on the tissue. Chapters 5-25 the systems anatomy section.

The text simplifies many concepts and biological mechanisms with color-coded charts, tables and figures. Interestingly, diseases and conditions are located throughout each chapter, making some of the dry text more interesting because they tend to collect various bits of knowledge from a particular chapter.

I found the chapter on the lymphatic system and immune system to be a little thin, but since a large part of the anatomy of these systems are treated in other chapters, it is perhaps understandable. Furthermore, I'm not sure why there would be a chapter on exocrine system (s).

The book comes with a brief atlas of the human body, which gives a nice summary of the tissues and gives examples of all the cadaver bones, muscles and organs.

Subjects of each chapter:
The first description of the body's orientation
2nd Cells
3rd Embryology

Hole's Human Anatomy & Physiology Hardcover David Shier

This book flows nicely. It will be straight to the point without being too wordy. Anatomy is not the easiest subject for me, but this book does a good job of explaining the human body and its functions very clearly and concisely. The diagrams are plentiful and clearly shows all the organs, muscles and bones. These authors make use of drawings, and carcasses. You begin to really understand the function of body systems and exact locations of all the bones, muscles and cavities from the rear, front, side and ipsilateral views .... absolutely every nook and region covered. A good amount of pathology is included in this book.

Shier et al. Continued outstanding tradition of Hole in the 11th edition. Hole was created for the introductory level student and assumes no prior science knowledge by placing emphasis on fundamentals.
This new edition updates a great A & P classic while higher efficiency for the user. The 11 edition of Hole also offers never before technology that combined with the users text offers a fantastic rate solution! Technology such as anatomy and physiology revealed, and the ARIS (assessment, examination and education system), a complete electronic homework and course management system to provide unprecedented opportunities to the classroom on campus or at home!

Human Anatomy and Physiology with Interactive Physiology 10-System Suite, 8th Edition Hardcover Elaine N. Marieb

I used the previous (seventh) edition and got an "A" in my online anatomy and physiology class. From what I could see there was no difference between the cheaper seventh edition, and ridiculously priced 8th edition with the exception of the picture on the cover!

I gave the book three stars because it was vague and lacked detail in so many areas that it made me confused. I had to clarify a lot of questions by looking at them online.

I sold my book after I finished it for the same amount of money I paid for it, so all it cost me was the original shipping cost.

FYI - I stopped buying books at my campus bookstore after the first semester and have saved over $ 1,000.00 so far, simply by buying used earlier editions.

The latest trick of unscrupulous retailers use is to pack a lot of unnecessary things with the necessary textbooks and sell the "package" at an outrageous price. It is criminal.

I always ask the instructor before hand, what other materials needed and if I can use the previous version. 99 percent of the time they tell me all I need is the textbook and the previous version is OK. Sometimes a professor will insist on the current release and I still save lots of money to buy it used on Amazon.com. When I was done, I resell them, and usually get all my money back!

We must get the word out about college bookstore textbook scam! It is a scandal!
